I Think I've Hit My Limit

Extended forecast.  Seriously??

My apologies.  I’m afraid I’m turning into one negative Nelly here, but I honest to goodness cannot take it anymore. Each week when I try to write about my weekend, all I can think about is the things I’ve missed due to freaking cold.  This weekend....

...the fake tanner I’ve been applying is beginning to wear off in strange like patterns.  I thought I had dirt on myself, and then I realized that’s what it was.  It’s holding me over for a while, but I’m ready to get a little bit of a real tan.  Just a little.  Pretty please.

...I was supposed to go with my fiance to watch one of his former players make his first college pitching start.  I seriously wanted to go.  Sunshine and baseball sounded like the perfect March activity.  Then I woke up with another sore throat (Seriously?  I just got over being sick like 2 weeks ago.) and realized it was 45 degrees, with a wind child of about 36.  So I didn’t go.  [Insert sad face.]

...our pool cover became so weighed down with ice that it actually fell into the pool.  It’s been hanging by a thread for a while and we’ve been wondering if it would survive.  It didn’t.  The water ice underneath is clear as can be too.  Darn.  Opening should be fun.

...I thought about getting a mani.  Ya know, just to make myself feel better and because I haven’t had one professionally done in over a year.  Unfortunately the dry bitter cold has led to hangnail after hangnail.  Every time one heals, another pops up.  If I’m paying to have my nails done, it had better be relaxing, and any girl that knows the searing pain of chemicals in a small cut at the nail salon knows... there ain’t nothing relaxing about that!

So that’s my weekend recap.  Arctic vortex, if you can hear me, I surrender.  Please retreat promptly and let us have spring!  I also promise to make my next post more lively, so please don’t write me off yet ;)

  1. I definitely feel for all the people in Northern states, because I remember what it was like to get the cold storms rolling through, but am so thankful to have been down here before this really bad winter! Even being in the warmer weather, I've had a cold three times this year, so I hear you on that!

    1. Yes! I love living in MD and generally consider it pretty mild, but if we have more winters like this I will seriously consider relocating!

  4. That stinks! We have some warmer temps coming our way this week (in fact, I think we're supposed to hit 70 tomorrow). So hang in there, if it's happening for this girl in the Appalachians, I'm sure you'll see some warmer numbers soon!

  5. Lol. I feel your pain! Although here in Michigan it's some what "normal" to have terrible/unknown weather all winter. I'm just ready for it to be over! We enjoyed it for hopefully the last time this winter! :) That really stinks about your pool cover! :(

  7. I live in Maryland also and if I see another snowflake I'm going to lose it! This has been the worst winter I can remember, so I'm hoping these meteorologists have just lost it. We should've given up snow for lent haha :)

  8. I feel your pain. I'm so over the Polar Vortex here in NYC. One day it's 50 and I get all excited for Spring then the next day it's 20 and snowing. Womp womp. Spring is only 2 weeks away so hopefully not much longer of this madness!

    Thanks for linking up :)
