Thirty is the New Twenty in 2014!

Although I may not have been ready to start a new year, I'm ready to embrace it with the attitude that got this whole thing started--Thirty is the new twenty.  It’s the mantra behind the blog and the theme driving my resolutions for 2014.  It may be the same stuff I’ve always preached to myself, but with an upcoming wedding and an amazing year behind me, I am even more driven to succeed in all of these areas...

[ONE.]  Making skincare a priority.  In the past I’ve gone through phases, constantly trying different products, yet not really using any of them to the extent they are intended to be used.  As I get older, I am more motivated than ever to do what it takes to get a glowing complexion.  This means moisturizing, drinking plenty of water, and keeping my stress levels low!

[TWO.]  Pushing my body to it’s fittest.  Give me a couple of months and I’ve always been able to get myself into pretty good beach body shape.  But this year, I won’t settle for “pretty good”.  My goal is to be in the best shape of my life come summer, and each year I am finding this tougher and tougher to attain.  It may mean putting more hours in at the gym and sucking up some clean eating, but I’m going to do it.  I’ll be looking for lots of easy, healthy recipes that don’t require a ton of ingredients, so send them my way!

[THREE.]  Keeping the social calendar full, even when it’s so cold you don’t want to leave your couch.  This will be a toughie especially given the previous goal of mine, but I find that the more I hang out with friends, the happier I am.  Girl time is essential as are date nights and I will continue to make both a priority.  Getting older does NOT mean becoming a homebody.

[FOUR.]  Save more.  Stop freaking out about money.  I will be honest.  I used to be the BEST saver of any of my friends.  Seriously, you can ask any of them.  So if I had money to save, I would.  Since we bought our house, my paycheck evenly covers all of my monthly expenses, gas, and groceries with nothing left over.  I have continued to toil and ask myself how I will pay for future expenses, but this year I am deciding to relax.  We have made it a year plus and have not missed a mortgage payment.  When the time comes that I need more money, God will lead me to it.  We will survive just fine.

[FIVE.]  Enjoy it.  I have a lot of “once in a lifetime” events coming up that I have wanted for a very, very long time and I intend to enjoy every one of them.  I also have friends welcoming new babies, moving to exciting new places, and who I think are on the verge of celebrating milestones of their own.  These are the years we will always remember fondly.  I am so happy to have this little online space to document it all.

So that’s pretty much the jist of my focus for 2014.  If you concur on any of these subjects, stick around.  You’re sure to be hearing a lot about it in the year to come!

  1. I'm hitting 30 very soon and have made it a priority to get my skin in order. I still break out around my chin so I was lucky to find something that works and helps with acne and prevents wrinkles. I love what you said about not stressing about money. It's hard not to do but it'll all fall in line!

    1. I always break out on my chin too! I'm pretty sure mine is stress related though bc I tend not too during summer or on school breaks lol.
